Jquery not working with Sprockets in Rails

This is my first attempt at writing Jquery scripts into my rails project. The project is in production with Heroku. I have been stuck for more than 24 hours and nearly going insane. I am able to run bootstrap and bootstrap javascript components just fine. My .scss stylesheets load without any problems.

app/assets/javascripts/articles.js (this is my exact file, do I need script brackets?)

  • I believe you may find your answer in this post.

    Per RailsGuides, Turbolinks overrides the normal page loading process so the "ready" event will not be fired. Try:

    $(document).on('page:change', function () {
       $('#myCarousl').css('border-color', 'red');
    });
